FAQ

Several Frequently Asked Questions are answered below.  If the FAQs do not answer your question, you can submit a question to the developer from the about page. 

 

Is this app compatible with my receiver?

Compatible receiver models are HR20, HR21, R22, R23, HR24, HR34, H21, H23, H24, and H25 as well as newer models. You can verify your model by looking under the front panel door of your receiver.  In addition to having one of these receivers, at least one of the receivers must be connected to your Wi-Fi network in order for this app to work. One way to see if your receivers are connected is to push the right arrow on your remote control. If you have access to Internet connected apps, your receiver is connected to the network.  

 

What do I do if my receiver is not found automatically?

If your receivers are already setup properly for remote control by an external device, the find option will most likely find them the 1st time you open the app.  Sometimes it takes more than one try to find all the receivers.  You can run the search again by pressing the find button from the Manage Receivers screen.  



If the steps above did not find your receiver(s), verify that external access is enabled for the missing receivers.  You can do this by using the standard infrared remote control that came with your receiver and selecting Menu > Settings & Help > Settings > Whole Home > External Device > Set "External Access", "Current Program" and "Recordings" should be set to "allow".  If they are not set to allow, use your remote to change the setting to "allow".  Once you have done this, you can try to search for the receiver on the network again by going to the Manage Receivers screen of Direct Remote and touching the find button.  If the receiver is still not found try adding the receiver manually (see next question).

Can I add a receiver manually?

To add a receiver manually, you will need the IP Address of your receiver.  You can find this by using the standard infrared remote control that came with your receiver and selecting Menu > Settings & Help > Settings >Network Setup > Network services.  You should see the IP Address of your receiver on the screen.  Go to the Manage Receivers screen in the Direct Remote app and touch the + button.  This will take you to a screen where you can add the receiver manually.

 

Why isn't there a logo image available for my favorite channel?  

Logos for most channels automatically appear in the app.  Local channel logos will not appear automatically.  If you add a local channel as a favorite, you can select an image for the common local networks.  After that, the logo will appear for that channel.
